Keynote Abstract

Modern MR technology and increasing availability of MRI scanners with high magnetic fields (7 Tesla and above) allow imaging the human brain with unprecedentedly high spatial and temporal resolution, with voxel sizes of less than 1 cubic mm and with a repetition times well below 1 second. The focus of Dr. Polimeni’s research is on exploring the limits of spatial and temporal resolution of fMRI and on the application of high resolution imaging in neuroscience, e.g. for the imaging of functional signals at the level of cortical columns and layers. The works co-authored by Dr. Polimeni has been published in such well-known journals as “The Journal of Neuroscience”, ‘’Neuroimage”, “PNAS”. In his talk, Dr. Polimeni will speak about the possibilities and limits of modern structural and functional MRI, as well as the challenges associated with acquisition and analysis of data at ultrahigh magnetic field.
